The mission of Hearts of Gold is to foster sustainable change in lifestyle and levels of self-sufficiency for homeless mothers and their children.
The sight of homeless people sleeping in boxes on a cold winter's night with no food, medical attention or companionship became increasingly distressing to Deborah Koenigsberger, so she decided to do something about it.
On October 15, 2001, Hearts of Gold, Inc.
was officially established as a not-for-
profit organization. HoG has and continues to expand its involvement with various New York City shelters. We support existing programs and create new ones based on the needs of each individual shelter.

the Thrifty HoG
An upscale resale boutique offering a selection of chic new, very gently used & vintage clothing and accessories for men, women and children, as well as home decor items and small furnishings.
Proceeds benefit the homeless mothers and children supported by HoG and the shop also provides job-training for these struggling women.
